Introduction
These Symmetrical photographs were constructed from images I had made for an earlier project entitled Windswept Landscapes and Memorials.  I encourage you to visit the project, see the original single, wind-blurred images, and read the brief introduction.

Straight  &  Symmetrical-Constructed Photographs)

I'm fascinated by the transformation that occurs with the four-fold symmetrical construction process.  When I get into a meditative state as I work with the process I often have a sense about the ritual aspect of creating symmetry, a visual form that is quite literally a merging of interior images with their corresponding outer-world counterparts that functions for me as a visual metaphor for the yogic concept of the Oneness of Being, or the re-union of the human soul with the Supreme Soul, God, or divine Consciousness.

For this project I began making the symmetrical images with photographs that had already undergone radical "wind-swept" transformations.  Wind, of course, is associated with the divine breath and inspiration, and in that respect I thought of those initial windswept images as a visual metaphor for the transforming power of nature.  With the added transformations of the four-fold symmetrical processes I used, I became interested in thinking about the way wind can change, destroy and even heal or purify the things in our world in radical, magical or other meaningful ways.  The titles I have placed under each of the images will probably clue you into what I mean; however I encourage you to come to your own meanings if my titles seem too imposing.

This project is the fourth in a series of 2026 miniature Inkjet Print projects which places images I have just recently printed for the first time into a thematic framework.
