Between 1999 and 2012 I created three large multi-chaptered projects inspired by the music of American composer Morton Feldman (1926-1987).  The title of my blog, The Departing Landscape, was borrowed from Feldman's writing about his work.

Besides the music of Morton Feldman, my creative process has been influenced by Jazz composer-performer Steve Lacy, and the man who inspired him with his quirky music, Thelonious Monk.

My early (1994-2000) Studies project was inspired by the contemporary composers such as William Bolcom and many other composers who wrote miniature piano pieces.

My project Homage to Federico Mompou was published in September, 2019.  And be sure to see my two three projects in Homage to Valentin Silvestrov: 1)  Studies X : 24 Photographs published in June, 2019   2)   Symmetrical Snow Photographs : Homage to Alfred Stieglitz, Minor White, the Equivalent Photographs, and composer Valentin Silvestrov   May 21, 2018 / revised January 2020    3)  Growing Light  May, 2022

American Composer Charles Ives was an important influence on the second part of my Lake Series

My Negative Print Project was inspired by a brief piano piece by Franz Liszt, Grey Cloud.

Chopin's Nocturnes were an important influence on my Color Diptychs project and more recently the project entitled Nocturne (now a work in progress)

My River Song Project was inspired by English pastoral music composed by Delius, Vaughan Williams, Frank Bridge, and others.  Their influence can also sensed in my project about the Hudson River Valley.

The first snow of the winter season 2020-21 I made photographs inspired by Christmas music and Christmas Stories.  Visit  Snow Photographs In Praise of Christmas Music  Winter 2020-21

A major book hand bound book project, Kraus, 1968 was created for my Senior Visual Thesis requirement at the Institute of Design in Chicago.  The book project was inspired by the Leitmotif idea used by Wagner in his Ring Cycle.  It influenced the way I sequenced the images in the book and used recurring images with slight variations within the sequence.
