This image invokes a horrible memory I have about an accident my wife Gloria was in when she
was living in the Bedford-Stuyvasant area of Brooklyn, in the summer of 1969.
I had gone out to see why she hadn't returned to her apartment building and
found a crowd standing around a drawing on the street under near the
corner grocery she had told me she was going to. The drawing (of a
human figure) had blood inside it. I asked a policeman about it and
learned that Gloria had been badly hurt bay car that hit her then
ran away from the scene. She had been rushed to the nearest
hospital. I took this picture in Rochester, NY maybe ten
years after the accident in Brooklyn.

Interestingly, as I was looking at the earlier 12x12" Project
I could not understand how I had selected some of the
images included in that project. That's the problem
with imposing a conceptual framework on images
that have their own visual validity. . .

This Rousseau painting fascinated our two year old son Shaun as he lay on his changing table
 by the curtained window.   I collaged together several strips of photographic images
 (from other 10x10" silver gelatin prints) to construct this collaged image.

(Note: After I initiated my blog in late 2010 and made several new blog photography projects
I went back to some of my early silver gelatin print projects and--where possible--made
digital copies of the prints for blog publication purposes so that I could have a more
expanded online Archive of my Creative Process in photography which 
included silver print projects.)

Closing note:  All of the 12x12" Quirky Photographs would look great 
in the18x18" size format.  I just had too many different reasons for
choosing not to print them larger at the time I placed these in
the 12x12" project.
