2023 was, for me, the year eye operations and making inkjet prints. After a long period of publishing my new work only in digital form on my blog TheDepartingLandscape.blogspot.com a frightening and challenging series of FIVE eye operations beginning in January 2023 (described in detail in the Introduction to my project I began creating a digital print archive of my work and publishing the newly printed works within the archive on my blog. The archive exists in the form of the projects listed below which includes a series of Books and Projects consisting of 12x12" inkjet prints, plus other larger digital works that belong to other projects listed below and a collection of larger formatted images that I consider key images within my creative process. Visit: this link for details about the following 12x12" Books & Projects:
12x12" Studies Photographs Book TWO, July 7, 2023
The 12x12" Studies PROJECTS listed below differ from the BOOKS in that each project deals with a particular theme. The images exist as 12x12" inkjet prints made in 2023, and were selected from previously published blog projects which address the theme being explored. Each project's introductory text discusses the thematic issues.
I also made inkjet prints for the following new project and two revised projects:
June 6, 2023
Inkjet prints made in 2023
March, 2022
Revised May & June, 2023
Inkjet prints made in 2023
Revised April, 2023
A Photography Project about Death, Angels & the Blue Pearl
Inkjet prints made in 2023
In June, 2023 I created this additional project for my blog:
A meditation on my fascination with image repetition and image re-vision
(In 2024 will be publishing on my blog my Archive Collection of larger formatted inkjet prints which are among my favorite images which do not relate to each other thematically.)
Some of my photographs were published in the book, published by the Cedarburg Art Museum, Wi. entitled A Creative Place: The History of Wisconsin Art authored by Thomas D. Lidtke and Annemarie Sawkins. Several of my photographs were included in an exhibition based on the book. The exhibition opened at the museum on January, 22, 2022 and ran through May 8, 2022. ~ Another group exhibition entitled In the Parks With Olmsted : A Vision for Milwaukee contained several of my photographs from my 1983-84 project Images of Eden Series. The exhibition, curated by Annemarie Sawkins, ran from April 14 - September 25, 2022 at the Villa Terrace Art Museum, Milwaukee Also I completed eleven new blog photography projects in 2022. See my blog's Welcome Page for a complete listing of hyperlinked project titles made in 2022, and all other project made before and since 2022. /// Regarding the Retrospective Exhibition, book, and traveling exhibition intended to be realized in 2021 by the Museum of Wisconsin Art (which was announced publicly in October, 2019) has continued to be on hold, first because of the Pandemic and then because the curator who was to organize the exhibition and book moved out of state in 2021 after getting married and having a child. All I know at this point, and this comes from my gallery director, that the project remains a priority for the museum, but it is on hold for the time being.
2021 Summary of Creative Activities_____________________
This was the second year of the Coronavirus Pandemic. I stayed home, stayed safe, and made lots of (10) photography projects, all of which are listed with hyperlinked, dated titles on my blog's Welcome Page. The Retrospective exhibition, book, and traveling exhibition at the Museum of Wisconsin Art, announced publicly in October, 2019 to open in 2021 has been put on hold because of the Pandemic.

In November, 201o I initiated my photography website TheDepartingLandscape.bolgspot.com an online compilation of my all my photography projects and writings, from the mid 1960's to my most recently completed projects. Since retirement from teaching I have decided to focus my energies entirely to publishing projects on my website rather than exhibiting in galleries.
