Inkjet Print Books & PROJECTS

The 2023-24 Inkjet Print PROJECT began with a project The Pandemic Inkjet Print Project consisting of 16x20" images printed on 18x24" paper. It was a project that was a long time coming, in the midst of many crisis, thus its a long story and have explained it all in the introductory text to the blog version of the Pandemic project.
A few other thematic projects came into print before I got the idea to make the 12x12" images and place them in non-thematic collections which I call "Books". Those other thematic projects are collected in my blog project The LARGER Sized Rectangular Inkjet Prints collections & Thematic Projects.

There are presently ten 12x12" Books, which consist of non-thematic collections of images, and the eleventh is on the way as I write this in November, 2024. ~ The 12x12" PROJECTS (collection of 12x12" images on particular themes) began in September, 2023. ~ And recently I have begun to make large, 21x21" Square Inkjet Prints, mostly of symmetrical images, which essentially are enlargements of the symmetrical images I published earlier in the 12x12" Books and PROJECTS. And I have also made several other LARGER sized rectangular formatted prints: please visit: The LARGER Sized Rectangular Inkjet Prints collections & Thematic Projects. This blog project consists of a non-thematic collection of large rectangular images, images I like very much but which did not work well in the square format which I favor most.
So, the Complete 2023-34 Inkjet Print Project exists--in blog project form--in three separate blog project links:

I will begin with the 12x12" Thematic PROJECTS, then the collection of Book links will follow.
It has been an education, making all this prints and then organizing some of the images into thematic projects. I have become more conscious through this inkjet print process of how so many of my favorite images address multiple thematic issues simultaneously.

The 12x12" Inkjet Print PROJECTS listed below deals with particular themes; the BOOKS (listed further below) are collections of favorite images chosen in a relatively random way.
All of the PROJECT images exist as 12x12" inkjet prints, drawn for the most part from the over 800 images collected within the 12x12" B00ks. Each PROJECT's introductory text discusses the thematic issues announced in the title.
Every image you will see in these blog Book collections and thematic PROJECTS exist as high quality, archival inkjet prints 12x12" in size (this dimension includes the surrounding tonal mattes). An additional one inch of white paper surrounds the four sides of the 12x12" printed image.
Please Note: most (but not all) of the 12x12" images in the BOOK and PROJECT collections
can be printed larger than 12x12." Nearly all of the 12x12" symmetrical images can be
printed up to 21" high x 21" wide . . . and in some instances up to 26" wide.

The ten 12x12" Inkjet Print BOOKS listed below are digital (blog) collections of the 12x12" inkjet print images that were originally published in my thematic blog projects. I have chosen images that work well in the 12x12" format. (Some images work better in their original longer 4:3 format and thus were not included in the 12x12" Books.)
I stopped making silver gelatin negatives and prints after 2003. I have scanned both prints and negatives from earlier projects for purposes of publishing the photographs in my blog projects which I began making in late 2010.
Though the BOOKS do not deal with particular themes, within each collection there may be clusters of images that relate to each other in various ways in terms of subject matter, formal issues, conceptual themes, etc. Many of the 12x12" inkjet print images may differ in format, from the earlier versions published in my blog projects.
The idea to make 12x12" (square) inject prints from favorite images in my blog was in part inspired by the early Studies I photography project of 1994-2000, in which I made miniature, square 3.5"x3.5" silver gelatin prints of images I found hidden in my archive of early made black and white negatives. I have written in detail about my inject print project in my Introduction for Book One.
The "12x12 inkjet print" images are surrounded by a tonal matte, in many cases 2" on all four sides of an 8x8" square image, and in other cases the matte may be as small as 1/2 inch on all four sides surrounding an 11x11" square image. I consider the matte an important, integral part of the 12x12" image, and I have written about the mattes in several BOOK introductions, including the Introduction to my first Book of 12x12" inkjet photographs, and the Introduction to my project: The Pandemic Inkjet Prints.

Please Note: most (but not all) of the 12x12" images in the BOOK and PROJECT collections
can be printed larger than 12x12" ranging from 15x15" to, in some cases, 18x18" and larger.
Nearly all of the 12x12" symmetrical images can be printed to 21x21" and many of the
longer formatted symmetrical images can be printed 21" high & up to 26" wide.

The two other related 2023-24 Inkjet Print Projects:
I love the 12x12" square format print size for the way it insists on a viewer's closer, more intimate and concentrated engagement with the image. But of course some photographs for various reasons work better at larger sizes. And not all of my images work in the square format. I have printed many of the 12x12" symmetrical photographs in larger sizes and have just completed a collection of 21x21" symmetrical photographs (and other images). Please visit:
I have also printed many longer, rectangular formatted images. Most of the 12x12" inkjet prints I have made originated in my digital camera as image files in the 4:3 rectangular (horizontal) format. I tend to prefer the square versions of the original digital files when I can get the square format to work with those files.
